Joshua Silburn Snr is a recurring character in The Messengers. He is portrayed by Victor Slezak.

Biography[]

Joshua Snr is a first-generation televangelist and father to Joshua Jr. He’s been noted by his son to have been a con. Using the words of God and his charisma, he was able to lead several people to his church.

Joshua Snr has a history of domestic violence within the family. He abused his children and even went as far as to hurt Charlotte, Joshua Jr’s pregnant ex-wife (who he had also had a one-night stand with and may've been the father of her unborn child). First when he bruised her arms and threatened her. Second when he pushed her into the mantle at the Messengers’ home, causing a concussion.

While waiting for information on Charlotte’s condition, Joshua Jr. attacks his father, now knowing about the abuse. When the doctor confronts Joshua Jr. about the bruises, he instantly tells the doctor that his father abused her. He then pulls on Joshua Snr’s collar to show the fresh scratch marks (which were defensive wounds) on his neck.

Joshua Snr. is later arrested and incarcerated for domestic violence.
